The experience

The day starts with a 1.6 km electric tram ride through forest to Paradise Cave, followed by a short walk uphill to the entrance. Inside, a wooden walkway leads deep into the cave past stalactites and stalagmites, with ceilings reaching 40–60 meters high. The cave stays cool and the LED lighting shows the rock formations without harsh glare. After lunch at a local restaurant, you head to Dark Cave for the main event: a zipline crossing the Chay River that deposits you directly at the cave entrance. The zipline is the longest double-wire in Southeast Asia and operates for guests between 40–90 kg.

Dark Cave itself is explored with a headlamp and safety gear, moving through the cave's natural darkness to reach a mineral-rich mud bath where you soak and relax. After the cave, a short second zipline and kayaking on the river round out the water activities. The river is clear and the jungle scenery frames the whole stretch. By 4:30 PM you're at Duck Tang Farm, where the pace shifts completely: you herd ducks, ride a gentle water buffalo, walk through vegetable gardens, try traditional fishing by hand, and eat local snacks. Fresh bananas, roasted peanuts, crispy spring rolls. The return to Phong Nha hotels happens between 5:30 and 5:45 PM.

Pickup runs from 7:30 AM at hotels and train stations in Dong Hoi, or from the Sovaba Travel office if you arrive early on a morning train or bus. The operator provides an air-conditioned vehicle for all transfers, two bottles of water per person, and a guide who speaks English throughout. Drop-off is at Phong Nha hotels only, not back in Dong Hoi.
