The experience
The tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Mui Ne or Phan Thiet and heads first to Poshanu Cham Tower, an architectural landmark of the Champa Kingdom. From there you move to Phan Thiet's fishing harbour, where you can watch the daily work of local fishermen and photograph the boats. The next stop is Van Thuy Tu Palace, located on Ngu Ong Street beside the harbour. It houses the skeleton of a whale that lived over 200 years, a centerpiece of the annual Nghinh Ong festival held each June.
The highlight is Ta Cu Mountain. A cable car carries you up, followed by about 100 steps to reach the Lying Buddha, a 49-meter statue at the summit. On the way up you pass smaller statues and gain views down across the city. The mountain itself sits among mist-covered peaks and ancient temples. On the return journey, the tour stops at a local dragon fruit farm so you can see how the fruit is grown before heading back to your hotel.
The five-hour itinerary is paced to fit the main sites without rushing. You travel by private car with your guide and driver, both present from pickup through drop-off. Water is provided, and all entrance fees are covered in the price.
