If you want to see ancient temples in soft morning light or under a glowing sunset sky—and maybe send off a lantern with your wish—this tour’s for you. You’ll get real stories from a local guide and experience traditions you won’t find anywhere else.
The air felt cool as we left Hoi An early, a bit of mist still hanging over the rice fields. Our guide, Minh, chatted about the Champa Kingdom while we drove—he pointed out how the landscape changed as we got closer to My Son Sanctuary. The first thing that hit me was the scent of damp earth and old brick when we walked through the temple ruins. You can almost hear echoes from centuries ago if you stand still long enough. Minh showed us carvings on the towers—some worn smooth by rain, others sharp as if they were finished yesterday.
We caught the Apsara dance just before sunset. The dancers wore bright silk and gold headpieces; their movements were slow and hypnotic, with music that seemed to float in the air. Locals gathered around too—some with kids on their shoulders. Afterward, we headed down to the riverbank where a small boat waited for us. The sun dipped low, turning everything orange and pink. We each got a paper lantern to set afloat on the Hoai River—a quiet moment to make a wish for someone back home. On the way back, snacks appeared (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf) and Minh shared stories about growing up nearby.
You’ll have bottled water, snacks (think sticky rice or fresh fruit), an English-speaking local guide who knows all the hidden details, private car transfers from Hoi An, plus your own lantern for releasing on the river at sunset or sunrise.
