The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Hanoi hotel in the Old Quarter at 8:00 AM, followed by a two-hour drive to Tuan Chau marina. A short rest stop halfway gives you time for coffee or a restroom break. Once onboard the catamaran at 11:30, you'll get a welcome drink and a briefing before lunch is served. The chef prepares vegetarian, vegan and allergy-friendly options alongside the standard menu. The boat's stable, yacht-style design keeps the ride smooth as you head into the bay.
From 2:00 to 2:45 PM, you kayak or take a traditional bamboo boat through Bright & Dark Cave, where local villagers row if you choose the boat option. The cave sits among Lan Ha Bay's limestone cliffs and is one of the bay's most photographed spots. After that, the next 45 minutes are yours: swim off the deck, try the water slide, bounce on the trampoline, or stay onboard and watch the scenery. At 4:00 PM, a Vietnamese cooking class teaches you to make fresh summer rolls. A hands-on lesson you can repeat at home. As the sun sets, fresh fruit and snacks come out on the return cruise back to Hanoi, with a rest stop on the highway before you're dropped at your hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 PM.
Pickup is included if you choose the limo or bus option. If you arrange your own transport to the marina, that option costs less. An English-speaking guide travels with the group throughout the day. Infants can sit on an adult's lap, and specialized infant seats are available on request.
