The Experience
The jeep picks you up at your hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter and within 20 minutes leaves the city behind, heading toward the Red River bank. After crossing Long Bien bridge on foot, you board the jeep again for a 4WD run along small off-roads through green farmland—banana plantations, fruit and vegetable fields, flower farms. The route passes through local villages where farmers work, and stops at a family home where you sit down for fresh fruit and green tea while the residents talk about their daily lives. This is the countryside half of the tour, and it is the part most visitors to Hanoi never see.
The second half swings back toward the city. You pass through peaceful villages around West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, then head into central Hanoi to see the B52 Victory Museum, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the French Quarter and the Old Quarter from the jeep. After that comes the backstreet section on foot—a maze of narrow lanes where you step into homes, visit local markets, hidden cafes, schools and playgrounds to watch how residents actually live and work. The guide navigates you through streets most tour groups skip.
The tour's signature moment is train street: you sit at a cozy railway-side café just inches from the tracks and watch a train glide past while you drink coffee. Lunch wraps the day at Hidden Gem Café, where the meal is included and covers organic, authentic local dishes—egg coffee, fresh fruit, local beer, traditional moonshine. The menu accommodates vegans and vegetarians. Rain ponchos are provided, and the jeep seats stay with the same driver and guide for the full four hours.
