The day starts with a 7:30 pickup from your hotel and a 60-kilometer drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Once there, you'll walk through the tunnel system itself (crawling into sections where Viet Cong soldiers lived and fought), and see the weapons they built by hand, including improvised guns. A documentary explains the tunnel structure, and you'll witness the deadly traps that were set throughout the network and learn how they worked. A B52 bomb crater sits nearby as a physical reminder of the war's scale. At the Weapon Workshop and VC Soldier Combat Sandals Workshop, you can watch craftspeople at work, and if you want to fire a rifle from the era, bullets cost extra.
After Cu Chi, you head to the Mekong Delta with lunch at a local restaurant along the way. A boat takes you to Thoi Son Islet, where an orchard produces honey and seasonal fruit. You can pick fruit directly if you choose to pay for it. A tram carries you through the village, where you'll taste the fruit and hear traditional Southern music.
