The experience

Cao Bang Loop starts at the Cao Bang Travel office, where you meet your English-speaking local guide and Easy Rider: both members of the region's ethnic communities who know the roads, villages, and culture firsthand. After a safety briefing and helmet check, you ride toward Ma Phuc Pass, stopping at a panoramic viewpoint over winding roads and limestone peaks. The first day moves through Phja Thap, a Nung An village where artisans make incense by hand, and Phuc Sen, where you watch metalworkers forge tools using techniques passed down through generations. You walk through Nguom Ngao Cave beneath limestone mountains, then arrive at Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Vietnam–China border, surrounded by rice fields and the Quay Son River. When conditions allow, a bamboo raft takes you closer to the cascading water. The day ends at a local homestay near the waterfall.

Day two is the longest ride, heading into remote valleys toward Ngoc Con Viewpoint. The hike climbs gradually through countryside to a panoramic ridge overlooking the Quay Son headwaters, rice fields, and villages rarely reached by large groups. You continue to Angel Eye Mountain, a distinctive limestone formation with an enormous natural rock opening. Depending on the season and water level, your guide will arrange an easy walk, kayak, or small boat to explore the valley beneath it. By afternoon you arrive in Pac Bo and check in at another homestay, where a home-cooked dinner with your hosts and group becomes a cultural exchange: your guide shares stories about local customs and family life, and you can optionally taste locally made rice wine.

The final morning starts with breakfast at the Pac Bo homestay before a walk beside Lenin Stream's clear turquoise water. You visit Coc Bo Cave, where Ho Chi Minh lived after returning to Vietnam in 1941, and hear your guide's account of that historical period. On the ride back to Cao Bang City, you stop at Truong Ha Stream, a peaceful local swimming spot surrounded by green mountains. If weather and water conditions are suitable, you can swim or simply rest by the water before the tour finishes at the Cao Bang Travel office between 4:20 and 5:00 PM. Transportation from Cao Bang to Hanoi or elsewhere is not included and should be arranged separately.
