The experience
The trek starts at 9:15 AM from Sapa Town with pickup available from your hotel. Day one takes you through Y Linh Ho village into Lao Chai, where the Hmong people live, and you eat lunch in a family home before continuing to Ta Van village. The Giay people inhabit Ta Van, and you stay overnight in a homestay there, giving you the evening to talk with your hosts and see how the village moves after the trekking stops.
Day two moves through bamboo forest toward Giang Ta Chai, home to the Red Dzao ethnic minority. You'll cross the Rattan Bridge, visit a Dzao family's house, and trek onward to Ban Ho village, where the Tay people live. Another night in a homestay means you're there for dinner and the next morning's sunrise over the valley before the short walk to Nam Tong village. The Red Dzao tribe lives there too, and after you return to Ban Ho for lunch, the bus takes you back to Sapa and the tour ends.
An English-speaking guide leads the whole trek, and an air-conditioned vehicle handles the transport to and from Sapa. You'll need a moderate level of fitness for the walking, and the itinerary is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular concerns.

Is this one for you? This is a shared group trek with a guide leading the route and the pace, so you walk with other travelers and follow the itinerary as set. Choose it if you want to trek the valley without navigating yourself and if sleeping in family homestays (eating their food, meeting them in the evening) matters more to you than returning to a hotel each night.
