  • Swim and swing into natural pool
  • Snorkel at Hideaway Island

The experience

Port Vila's Hideaway Island is the centerpiece of this day: you'll snorkel the coral reefs and tropical fish in clear water, and you can send a postcard from the underwater post office. The only one in the world. The island sits at the end of a route that starts with shopping at the duty-free shop, moves through the Cultural Village where guides walk you through local heritage and you'll see fire-walking at sunset, and includes time at the Blue Lagoon for swimming or floating in the natural pool. A rope swing hangs from a tree at the lagoon if you want the adrenaline of dropping into the water. Refreshments (seasonal fruit) are provided there.

The tour runs six hours total with an air-conditioned vehicle and a guide who speaks English. Hotel pickup is included, and lunch is a BBQ served during the day. Snorkeling gear (mask, fins, snorkel) can be rented at Hideaway Island. You'll arrange and pay for it on-site. Children from age six are welcome, though infants must sit on an adult's lap. The itinerary is fixed, so all four stops fit into a single afternoon and evening.

Is this one for you?The six-hour commitment leaves room for other activities in Port Vila on the same day, though the fixed itinerary means you move through all four stops on the operator's schedule rather than lingering at any one. Children from age six can join, but the fire-walking and snorkeling require comfort in the water and with the pace of a group tour.
