The experience
The tour starts with a 9 am pickup from your Tashkent hotel and a 75 km drive into the Chatkal national park. You'll spend the morning at Amirsoy, a world-class ski and leisure resort built across 900 hectares in the Bostanlyk district: the kind of modern mountain facility that's still relatively new to the region. The air is noticeably cooler and cleaner than the city, and the views from the slopes open up across the valleys below.
From there you move into the Valley of Chimgan itself, which sits between 1,200 and 1,600 meters above sea level. Greater Chimgan Mountain rises to 3,309 meters and dominates the entire valley. This is where you'll walk among alpine meadows and take in the rugged peaks on foot. The landscape shifts from resort amenities to raw mountain terrain: the kind of place locals come to escape the heat on summer days. If you want to add activities beyond walking, you can arrange horse riding, a cable car ride or a buggy tour at checkout.
The afternoon takes you to Charvak Reservoir, a turquoise lake created in 1970 when a 168-meter rockfill dam was built where three mountain rivers converge. The water is the main draw on hot days, and the dramatic hillsides framing it explain why it's become a favorite local getaway. You'll have time to take in the view before heading back to Tashkent. Lunch, a traditional Uzbek meal, happens at a local restaurant along the route, and the drive back to your hotel wraps up by 5 to 7 pm.
