The experience

The tour opens in Tashkent at the Hazrati Imam Ensemble, where your guide walks you through the Barak Khan Madrasah and the Tilla Sheikh Mosque to see the 7th-century Uthman Quran. From there you move through Chorsu Bazaar (the city's vibrant heart of spice stalls and handmade crafts) before heading south to Samarkand. The route is built around the major monuments: Registan Square's three madrasahs, the blue-tiled Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis, and the Gur-e-Emir Mausoleum with its striking azure dome. Each site comes with timed entry and a guide who walks you through what you're seeing on each level.

The middle days shift the pace. You spend time in Bukhara exploring the Ark fortress, the 47-meter Kalyan Tower, and the Poi Kalon Mosque, then move east toward the desert. The Aydarkul Lake region brings a change in rhythm: you stay in a yurt camp on the edge of the Kyzylkum Desert, where the itinerary includes folk music by campfire and time in the natural landscape. This is where the "hidden gems" part of the tour takes over: the places most group buses skip.

The final days take you to the Tian Shan Mountains near Tashkent. The Chimgan range offers lush valleys and hiking trails. Charvak Lake sits turquoise and quiet in the foothills. The tour ends at the mountains' premier resort before returning to the city. Throughout, your guide handles entry to every monument, explains what you're standing in front of, and arranges the transfers between cities. Hotel stays are six nights across four properties. Meals beyond breakfast are your choice, though the itinerary includes a samsa lunch stop in Jizzakh on the return leg.

Is this one for you? This tour is built as a private journey with a single guide for the full seven days, so the pace and stops stay under your control rather than following a group schedule. Choose it if you want the major UNESCO sites (Registan, Shah-i-Zinda, the mausoleums), but also crave the quieter moments: a night in a yurt, folk music in the desert, time in mountain valleys without the rush of a bus full of strangers.
