The experience
You start at the West Entrance Gate and spend the next six to seven hours on scenic roads and boardwalks with a professional naturalist guide who drives. The route shifts based on what's happening that day (where animals are moving, which roads are open, what the weather allows), so no two departures follow the same path. Your guide has thousands of hours in the park and will steer around construction delays and closures to hit the features you most want to see. The goal is to pack as many of Yellowstone's highlights into a single day as the conditions allow.
You'll stop at Old Faithful to watch the geyser's predictable eruptions, walk the boardwalk at Fountain Paint Pot to see the colored mud pots in the Lower Geyser Basin, and spend time in Hayden Valley, where the grassy plains and streams draw bison, elk and other wildlife. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a major stop. You'll see the Upper and Lower Falls from multiple vantage points, with the canyon dropping over 1,000 feet below you. Yellowstone Lake, with its underwater geysers and geothermal activity, rounds out the thermal and geological side of the day.
Lunch is a picnic with seasonal local ingredients, packaged in compostable materials. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages come throughout the day. You'll have access to UHD binoculars and spotting scopes to watch wildlife from a distance. Children 8 and older can join. If your child needs a car seat, bring it with you.

Traveler reviews
Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (8 to 17 years). Under 8: they can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
What's the difference between Old Faithful and the other geysers in Yellowstone?
Old Faithful earned its name because its eruptions are predictable, unlike the roughly 500 other geysers in the park. Your guide will explain the geology behind why this one goes off on a schedule.
How deep is the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone?
The canyon drops more than 1,000 feet, carved by water, wind, earthquakes and hydrothermal features working together. You'll see both the Upper Falls and Lower Falls: the Lower Falls cascade roughly 308 feet over volcanic rock.
Will I definitely see wildlife on this tour?
Your guide makes several stops in Hayden Valley, where wildlife is abundant, and structures the day around current sightings. The route adapts to where animals are moving, but sightings depend on the day and season.
What if road closures or construction slow us down?
Summer construction is common in Yellowstone and can impact the schedule. Your guide knows the park well enough to navigate delays and will prioritize the stops that matter most to your group.
Is lunch included, and what if I have dietary preferences?
A picnic lunch with seasonal local ingredients is included, along with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day. Communicate any dietary needs to your guide when you book.
