The experience

The tour picks you up from your Jackson Hole hotel and heads into Yellowstone, starting at West Thumb Geyser Basin near Grant Village on the shores of Yellowstone Lake. From there, the route moves through the park's major thermal features: Norris Geyser Basin, the hottest and oldest of Yellowstone's geothermal areas where temperatures reach 459°F just below the surface; Old Faithful, the cone geyser that erupts every 44 minutes to two hours; and Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the United States and third largest in the world. Lower Falls is the centerpiece of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: a 308-foot waterfall and the second most photographed spot in the park. You'll have access to multiple viewpoints from both the east and west sides of the canyon, most requiring only a short walk. The trail to the top of the Falls (3/4 mile roundtrip, steep with switchbacks) is included if you want to stand directly above the cascade. The day also takes in Schwabacher Landing in Grand Teton National Park, the location that shows off the Tetons' scale, and Snake River Overlook, the iconic view made famous by photographer Ansel Adams.
