The guide handles the team; you ride and steer, which is the difference between watching and doing. All the gear you need is there: snowsuits, fishing rods, tackle, the sled setup. The only thing you bring is a valid Alaska fishing license, which you buy from ADFG before the day starts. Kids as young as 4 can do this, and the guides say it's built for all fitness levels, which means you're not training for it—you're just showing up.
