Private Surf Lesson at Waikiki Beach: One-on-One Instruction
Learn to surf one-on-one instead of in a group class
A private 90-minute surf lesson at Waikiki Beach pairs you with a certified instructor for one-on-one teaching in the water. The lesson starts with a land demonstration and ocean safety briefing at the shop, then moves into the water to practice paddling and wave-catching. All skill levels are welcome, and children from age 4 can join.
The Experience
Waikiki Beach is where the lesson happens, and it starts at the shop across the street from the water. You'll meet your instructor there, go through a land demonstration covering the basics of your surfboard and paddling technique, and get a safety briefing before heading into the ocean. The whole experience runs 90 minutes, with the instruction tailored to your level—whether you're picking up a board for the first time or refining your technique.
Once in the water, your instructor guides you through catching waves and building confidence in the ocean. Because it's one-on-one, the pace and focus stay on what you need to work on, not on keeping a group moving together. The certified instructor speaks English, Spanish, or Japanese, so language isn't a barrier to understanding what's happening in the water.
Check-in happens at the shop, where you'll prepare for the ocean before walking across the street to enter the water. Children from age 4 are welcome, making this an option for families introducing kids to surfing. Rash guard and lock rentals are available for a small additional fee if you need them.
What’s included
- Certified instructor for the full 90 minutes.
- land demonstration and ocean safety briefing.
