The experience
The tour leaves St Petersburg and heads straight into Dolphin Bay, where wild Bottlenose Dolphins move through the water in their natural habitat. From there the boat cuts through lush mangroves and estuaries: narrow waterways lined with dense vegetation where manatees and sea birds live year-round. The whole route is built around what you'll actually see, not what you might.
Shell Key itself is the destination: a pristine, undeveloped beach where you step off and hunt for shells on your own. The shells here include Conchs, Whelks, and the Junonia: a rare find that collectors search for. You can spend the time shell hunting, exploring the beach, or simply sitting in the quiet. A cooler stays on board for the whole trip. The crew has over 15 years guiding people through these waters, and the boat is inspected and captained by USCG standards.
Bring your own drinks if you want them. Lunch is not part of the tour. You'll need at least a moderate level of fitness to get on and off the boat and walk the beach.
