The experience

The helicopter takes off from the airport and climbs into views of Red Rock State Park, then banks toward Cathedral Rock, where you pass eye-level with its summit. Bell Rock comes next, followed by the Chapel of the Holy Cross. From there the route sweeps over the Broken Arrow Trail, showing the Praying Hands, Chicken Point and Submarine Rock in a single pass: landmarks that would take hours to reach on foot. The guide points out Snoopy Rock, the Tea Kettle, Eagle Rock and a dozen other formations as you move across the landscape.

The flight continues over Midgely Bridge, Steamboat Rock and Ship Rock, then into Oak Creek Canyon where seasonal waterfalls run down the canyon walls. You'll see Devil's Bridge from above (one of the region's most popular hikes, visible in seconds from the air), then pass Seven Canyons golf course, Boynton Canyon and Mescal Mesa on the way back. The noise-reducing headset lets you hear the guide over the engine, and the forward-facing seats mean nobody is craning to see around someone else. The whole route covers over 20 miles without leaving the helicopter.
