You start in downtown Seattle and drive east for about 30 minutes to Olallie State Park, where the trail begins. The hike itself runs 2 hours through old-growth forest along the Snoqualmie River, climbing gradually to reach Twin Falls and the Upper Falls: a series of cascades that build as you move deeper into the woods. The trail is 3 miles total, with a few inclines that push for five minutes at a time. The rest is steady forest walking. You'll cross the floating bridge over Lake Washington on the drive out, a landmark most visitors only see from a distance.

After the hike, you drive through North Bend, where the diner from Twin Peaks was filmed, and into Snoqualmie itself: an old logging town with steam engines still sitting on the tracks. The centerpiece is Snoqualmie Falls, a 270-foot drop you view from multiple platforms. Before heading back to Seattle, the route stops at Borst Lake, where Mount Si often reflects in the water on clear days.
