The Experience

You're standing at 710 Ashbury Street in five minutes, looking at the actual house where the Grateful Dead lived during the Summer of Love. The eBike does the climbing for you — all you do is pedal and listen. Your guide points out where Janis Joplin lived two blocks over, then you roll through the Haight & Ashbury intersection itself, the crossroads that became shorthand for an entire era. The shops are still there, the energy is still there, and you're moving through it on a bike instead of stuck in a car or walking in circles trying to figure out where to go next.

After Haight-Ashbury, the route takes you through the Panhandle — a thin strip of park where Jimi Hendrix played his second US show, and you're biking the exact ground where that happened. Then Golden Gate Park opens up, and it's massive. You pass the Conservatory of Flowers with its Victorian glass and flowers spilling everywhere, roll past the de Young Museum and its sculptures from the 1939 World Fair, glide by the Japanese Tea Garden gates (the lines are long, so you skip the stop but you see it), and pedal past the California Academy of Sciences. The final stretch is Ocean Beach and the Sutro Baths ruins — you bike the coastal highway path with the Pacific on one side and the cliffs on the other, then swing to a viewpoint where the Golden Gate Bridge sits in the frame like it was put there just for your photo. The whole ride is maybe a few hours, but you've covered the music history, the counterculture landmarks, one of the world's great urban parks, and two of San Francisco's most dramatic coastlines.
