Four hours underwater in coral gardens teeming with tropical fish, turtles, and rays

Reef diving in Key West with Southpoint Divers puts certified divers on America's only living barrier reef in small groups led by PADI-certified instructors. You check in at the air-conditioned dive shop near Hyatt Centric, get fitted with SCUBAPRO gear, and board the custom dive boat docked behind the hotel. The cruise out passes Sunset Key and Fort Zachary Taylor Beach before you descend into vibrant coral gardens, and every dive supports reef restoration in the Florida Keys.

The experience

Four hours from start to finish means you're in the water for the heart of the day. The dive shop sits across from Hyatt Centric, so there's no long transfer to eat into your time. You check in, sign waivers, and get fitted with SCUBAPRO equipment. The gear is top-of-the-line and included. The custom-built dive boat is docked right behind the hotel, so you step aboard within minutes of gearing up.

The boat ride out to the reef takes you past Sunset Key, Mallory Square, and Fort Zachary Taylor Beach, so you see the turquoise water and the shoreline before you ever descend. Once on site, you drop into coral gardens where tropical fish, turtles, and rays move through the water around you. PADI-certified instructors keep groups small and watch each diver closely, prioritizing safety at every step. This is the only living barrier reef in America, and Southpoint Divers partners with conservation projects in the Florida Keys, so your dive directly supports restoration work.

The boat has a restroom on board, and public transportation options are available near the dive shop if you're not driving. Kids can join from age 10 onward. Trips are designed for certified divers of all skill levels, so whether you're logging your tenth dive or your fiftieth, the reef itself is the same.

What’s included

  • Use of SCUBAPRO diving equipment.
  • restroom access on board the dive boat.
