The experience
The morning starts on the water. A catamaran takes you out to one of the world's largest reefs, where you'll snorkel among the fish and watch dolphins jump and play nearby. The reef itself is the draw (you're in the water the whole time, not watching from a boat), and the operator notes you may see sea turtles and other species along with the dolphins. On the return, the open bar kicks in: well drinks, draft beer, margaritas, rum runners and a selection of wine and champagne.
After the morning in the water, you board the Conch Train, one of Florida's most recognizable attractions. It's a hop-on hop-off trolley, so you control how long you stay at each stop. The route passes Truval Village, the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, the Key West Lighthouse, the Southernmost Point, and the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. You also get entry to the Sails and Rails Museum to learn the history of the train itself.
