Step-by-step itinerary
Day cruise exploring Cape Coral and beaches
- Cruise Cape Coral canals
- Lunch at waterfront restaurant
- Swim or shell at beach
The experience
The boat leaves from Fort Myers and heads straight into Cape Coral's canal system, where you'll see some of the largest homes in the area from the water. A licensed captain navigates the gated yacht club channels: a route most visitors never access on their own. After the canals, you cruise past the historic Sanibel Lighthouse or head to Fort Myers Beach, depending on which option you book. The whole route stays in protected waters close to shore, so the ride stays smooth even if you've never been on a boat before.
Once you reach the Gulf, you can swim in the open water or wade into the shallows to look for shells. Dolphins and manatees show up often enough that the captain keeps watch and points them out when they appear. If you want to break for a meal, a waterfront restaurant stop is available before heading back. You bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks, or order lunch where you stop. The boat carries water for everyone and adult life jackets for all passengers.
Getting on and off the boat requires a big step, so make sure you're comfortable with that before booking. Infants and small children can come along: infants sit on an adult's lap, and younger kids can ride in a stroller if you bring one. Pets stay home. The captain speaks English or German, so language won't be a barrier if either is your preference.

Is this one for you?Choose the Half Day option if you have a free afternoon and want to see the canals and reach the Gulf without committing your whole day; pick Sunset Cruise if you're timing it for evening light and a smaller group; the Sanibel option works best if the lighthouse and beach time matter more to you than the canal tour.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and German.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How long does the private boat tour actually take?
The cruise runs anywhere from two to six hours depending on which option you select at checkout. The Sunset Cruise, Half Day, and Sanibel options each set their own pace and stopping points, so you choose the length that fits your afternoon or evening.
Can we swim in the Gulf during the tour?
Yes, swimming or shelling in the Gulf is part of the itinerary once you leave the canals and reach the open water. You'll have time to get in the water and look for shells along the beach, depending on which option you book.
What's included in the price, and what do we need to bring?
Water, adult life jackets, and fuel are included. You're welcome to bring a cooler with your own drinks and snacks, or you can stop for lunch at a waterfront restaurant along the route if you want a meal break.
Will we see dolphins or manatees?
Dolphins and manatees are common in these waters, and the captain watches for them and points them out when they appear. There's no guarantee, but sightings happen often enough that you have a good chance of spotting one.
Can we bring young children or infants on the boat?
Infants and small children are welcome. Infants must sit on an adult's lap during the cruise, and you can bring a stroller or pram for younger kids if you need one. Just keep in mind you'll need to take a big step to get on and off the boat.
