Step-by-step itinerary
Private inshore fishing charter
- Meet at boat ramp area
- Board boat and start fishing tour
- Fish targeting seasonal species
- Return to original docking area
The experience
You arrive at the boat ramp area in Fernandina Beach, where the captain has his boat in the water and the restrooms and park facilities are open. Once aboard, the captain makes you comfortable and heads out into the Amelia River and surrounding backwaters: a mix of tidal creeks, marsh-lined shorelines and productive inshore habitat. The ride time varies depending on the season and which species are running, but the captain knows where to find them and adjusts the route around tides and weather as the day unfolds.
Redfish are the local favorite here, but the waters hold spotted seatrout, flounder, tarpon, cobia and other species that shift with the seasons, so there's something to target whether you've fished before or this is your first time casting a line. The captain provides all the rods, reels and tackle you need, along with the safety equipment and your fishing license. Nothing to arrange beforehand. His job is to put you on the fish and teach you how to work the conditions. The variety of species and habitat means anglers of different skill levels find something to pursue.
When your scheduled time is up (whether you've booked four hours or six), the captain returns you to the original docking area. The whole experience stays on the water, so you get the natural side of Amelia Island without leaving the boat.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What fish can I expect to catch on an Amelia Island inshore charter?
Redfish are the local favorite and a reliable target year-round, but the waters also hold spotted seatrout, flounder, tarpon, cobia and other coastal species depending on the season and current conditions. The captain adjusts the fishing strategy around what's running and where they're feeding.
Do I need to bring my own fishing rod and tackle?
No. The captain provides all rods, reels, tackle and safety equipment, along with your fishing license. You show up ready to fish.
What's the difference between the 4-hour and 6-hour charter options?
Both depart from the boat ramp in Fernandina Beach, but the 4-hour charter runs either in the morning at 7am or the afternoon at 2pm, while the 6-hour charter departs at 7am. The longer trip gives you more time to explore different areas of the Amelia River and backwaters as conditions and fish activity change through the day.
Is there a restroom on the boat?
There are restrooms at the marina and boat ramp area where you meet the captain, but not on the boat itself. The facilities are accessible before and after your charter.
Can I bring food and drinks on the charter?
Bottled water is provided on the boat. Food and other drinks are not included, so bring what you'd like to have during the trip.
