The Experience

At Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, we ate messy garlic shrimp on picnic benches while chickens strutted around our feet (one nearly stole my napkin). The day never felt rushed; we even stopped at a fruit stand near Kahuku Farms because someone in our group wanted fresh pineapple. No one seemed to mind.

Somehow, by sunset, we’d circled back to Waikiki with sand in our shoes and a cooler full of leftovers. It wasn’t perfect—someone got sunburned and I definitely butchered “mahalo”—but I wouldn’t change how it all unfolded.
