Mauka Warriors Luau Honolulu: Fire Dancing & Polynesian Feast
Battle of Kipapa grounds tour with fire-knife dancers and hula performers showcasing Polynesia's warrior legends
Mauka Warriors Luau is a four-hour evening show in Kapolei, Oahu, where you feast on kalua pork and island dishes, join hands-on activities like hula and headband weaving before the performance, and watch fire-knife dancers and hula performers tell the story of Hawaiian warriors and the Battle of Kipapa. Pickup and drop-off are available with certain ticket packages; all packages include the buffet, activities, and admission to the show.
Step-by-step itinerary
Polynesian luau with feast and show
- Participate in pre-show activities
- Enjoy all-you-can-eat Polynesian buffet
- Watch Polynesian cultural dances
- See fire-knife performance
- Learn Hawaiian warrior history
The Experience
Four hours covers the whole arc: you arrive to an all-you-can-eat Polynesian buffet with views of Honolulu, kalua pork, taro rolls, grilled pineapple, and island sides. Before the performance starts, you move through hands-on activities—Polynesian tattoo art, cooking demonstrations, authentic Maori games, headband weaving, hula lessons—so you're not sitting and waiting. The setup lets you move at your own pace and pick which activities draw you in.
The show itself centers on the Great Battle of Kipapa, fought on the ground beneath you, and traces King Kamehameha I's campaign to unite the Hawaiian Islands. Fire-knife performers and hula dancers move through stories of Tonga, Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, and the Cook Islands, so the evening spans the whole Polynesian arc, not just Hawaii. The performances are close enough to watch the detail—the fire work, the footwork, the coordination—rather than from a distant stage.
You can book with or without hotel pickup from Honolulu; the show itself is in Kapolei, about thirty minutes from central Honolulu. Infants four and under are free but must be listed in your reservation. The show uses flashing lights, fire effects, and dynamic lighting, so if you have light sensitivities, plan accordingly. Wheelchair access covers all areas and surfaces; if you need an ADA vehicle, call ahead with at least 72 hours' notice.
