The experience

The tour starts before dawn during winter months so you watch the sun actually rise over Oahu instead of arriving after it's already up. That timing sets the tone for the day: the operator built this around what you'll actually see, not around a schedule. After sunrise, you head to Diamond Head lookout (the same road Amelia Earhart used as a runway in 1935), for panoramic views of the southern shore and Waikiki, then move through the stops that make a circle island tour worth taking: Halona Blowhole (one of three in the world), Makapuu Lighthouse with its cliff views, and Hanauma Bay, where the snorkel gear is free to use if you want it.
