Search the ocean floor by flashlight after dark

Night snorkeling in West Palm Beach puts you in the water for about 90 minutes with a local guide, searching for nocturnal marine life using an underwater flashlight in a small group of no more than four. The operator provides all snorkel gear, wetsuits, flashlights and floatation devices. Post-swim snacks and fresh water showers are included. Groups stay small and intimate by design.

The experience

You'll spend roughly an hour in the water at Phil Foster Park, North America's top snorkel site, swimming through grassy and sandy ocean bottom dotted with coral reefs. The guide leads you with a powerful underwater flashlight to hunt for creatures that only emerge after dark: animals you won't see on a daytime dive. The habitat sits just offshore, so the entry is quick and the exploration stays close to the shoreline.

All equipment arrives with you: snorkel gear, wetsuit, flashlight and a choice of floatation device. After the swim, you'll rinse off in fresh water showers and dry with towels provided on-site. Snacks and drinks (chips, granola bars, fresh fruit and bottled water) are waiting when you climb out. The group never exceeds four people, which keeps the experience intimate and lets the guide focus on each swimmer.

This activity is designed for beginners and novices, though it will challenge even experienced ocean explorers. The darkness is the whole point, so it's not suitable if you're uncomfortable in low-light water conditions. Moderate fitness is expected. The operator notes it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
