The experience

The van was supposed to pick us up at 8:30, and at 8:47 the driver called to say he was running five minutes behind, which turned out to mean he was already outside, and I'd just been staring at my phone. Laura Plantation is the other option on the tour, and it's set up differently: same kind of guided walk, same timeframe, but the grounds feel less manicured, more like you're walking through an actual place that's been lived in rather than preserved.
