The experience
Mountain Trip has been guiding climbers through the rugged San Juan Mountains since 1973, holding U.S. Forest Service permits for the Wilson Group (Mount Wilson, Wilson Peak, El Diente) and the Sneffels Range (Mount Sneffels, Gilpin, Tea Kettle, Stoney). The one-day ascents also include Centennial 13ers like Dallas, Vermilion, and Gladstone, plus technical objectives such as Lizard Head Peak, one of Colorado's hardest summits. Your guide is AMGA certified or trained, and the route is tailored to your experience and the conditions on the day you climb.
The eight-hour format packs serious elevation and alpine exposure into a single push without the logistics of overnight camping. You'll get all necessary protective equipment where it's required, and your guide handles the route-finding and safety decisions so you focus on the climb itself. Pickup is included, which means no need to arrange transport to the trailhead. Bring your own clothing and plan to bring or purchase lunch. Gratuity for your guide is optional at checkout.
If you want a bigger challenge or a custom itinerary (multi-day climbs, the Wilson to El Diente Traverse, or peaks beyond the standard one-day options), Mountain Trip can help you design that experience. Contact them directly to discuss what fits your goals and timeline.
