The experience

You start in South Beach with a 30-minute orientation on the Segway before your guide leads the group through the Art Deco Historic District. The route passes the Versace Mansion and Lincoln Road's outdoor shops and restaurants, then moves toward the waterfront where you'll see Biscayne Bay dotted with million-dollar yachts and high-rises. Your guide provides commentary on the area's architecture, history and culture as you ride.

The tour includes stops at several landmarks: the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, where a 40-foot-tall outstretched hand reaches skyward; the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, a quiet urban oasis in the middle of South Beach; and South Pointe Park at the southern tip of Miami Beach, where you can watch cruise ships pass through Government Cut. The pace is leisurely, giving you time to take in each stop without rushing through the day.

The Segway itself handles the distance. You're not walking the neighborhoods, you're gliding through them. The helmet and equipment are included, and the guide keeps groups to a maximum of 8 riders, so you're not navigating a crowd. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended, and the whole experience runs about 2 hours from start to finish.
