The experience
What does it feel like to cruise past the homes of billionaires without leaving the water? On this private yacht, you get unobstructed backyard views of the Flagler Museum (the 100,000-square-foot mansion Henry Flagler built in 1903 as a gift for his wife) along with Trump's Mar-A-Lago, Sylvester Stallone's private beach estate, and rows of mega yachts docked downtown. The Intracoastal route keeps the pace slow enough to actually see the architecture and the people on their terraces. A captain and stewardess handle the sailing while you settle into the rhythm of the day, cocktail in hand.
The boat anchors at Peanut Island, a local favorite where the real swimming happens. You can jump off the side, snorkel the shallows, or float on the sunbathing pads while the stewardess sets up lunch. Keep watch for manatees, stingrays, sea turtles and giant orange starfish that drift through these waters. After Peanut Island, the yacht heads down to the Breakers Hotel reef for a second snorkel stop, where the water clarity and marine life shift noticeably.
The stewardess makes craft cocktails and charcuterie boards throughout the day. You bring the food and alcohol you want (red wine is the one exception). Complimentary water, soda and snacks round out the refreshments. The whole experience runs four hours, timed so you're back on shore with the afternoon still ahead of you.
