The experience
The tour starts at Shoreline Village, Long Beach's waterfront shopping and dining hub, where you pick up your e-bike and head out on your own schedule. You'll roll past the Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier and Island Grissom as you navigate through the Pike (one of Southern California's most distinctive waterfront shopping centers), and its surrounding neighborhoods. The e-bike does the heavy lifting on hills and longer stretches, so you can focus on the sights instead of the effort.
The main event is the five-mile Shoreline Pedestrian Bikeway, a paved path that hugs the coast northward to Naples, a Long Beach neighborhood with Italian-inspired architecture and character. You set the rhythm: stop for photos, grab food, linger at a viewpoint, or keep moving. The route map marks points of interest and includes historical context for each one, so you're not just riding. You're learning as you go. The whole loop takes around four hours at a moderate pace, but there's no clock pushing you.
Each rental comes with a helmet, a sturdy lock, a basket or bag for your belongings, and the annotated route map. You'll need to be at least 16 to ride, and one member of your party must be 18 or older with a valid government-issued ID to hold as collateral until you return the bike. The route is paved throughout, making it accessible for riders with moderate fitness. The e-assist handles the work if your legs need a break.

Top questions
Can I choose between a regular e-bike and a fat tire e-bike?
Yes. You pick your bike type at checkout: either a standard city e-bike or a fat tire e-bike for the same four-hour rental window. Both come with the same gear and follow the same route.
What exactly is the Shoreline Pedestrian Bikeway like?
The bikeway is a five-mile paved path that runs along the coast from the Pike area northward to Naples. It's flat and dedicated to bikes and pedestrians, so you're not sharing it with car traffic.
Do I have to follow the map exactly, or can I explore on my own?
The map is a guide with marked points of interest and historical facts, but you control where you stop and how long you stay. Many riders skip some stops or add detours through neighborhoods near the route.
What happens if I want to keep the bike longer than four hours?
The rental is priced for a half-day (four hours) or full-day option, which you select when you book. If you want more time, you'd need to book the full-day tour instead.
Is there anywhere to lock the bike if I want to stop and eat or shop?
Yes, you get a bike lock with the rental. You can secure the bike at any stop along the route: Shoreline Village, the Pike, and Naples all have places to lock up while you explore.
