The experience
You're picked up at Mandalay Bay Hotel and shuttled to the desert staging area, so the ride starts the moment you step off the Strip. Once there, every rider goes through a safety and operational orientation: helmet, goggles and gloves are provided, and you need to complete the briefing before the ride begins. Beginners are welcome, and the guide stays with you for the full adventure.
The 60-minute ride takes you through the white sandy peaks and desert trails of the Las Vegas Dunes. About halfway through, you stop at the top of a scenic peak for a photo opportunity with the Strip and surrounding dunes in the frame. Then it's back on the trails to finish out the ride, and the shuttle brings you back to the Las Vegas Strip.
The whole outing runs about two hours from pickup to drop-off. You must be 18 or older to ride, and the guide briefs you on how to operate the ATV before you head out: no prior experience needed.
