The experience

You're standing at the edge of Waimea Canyon, and you realize you didn't have to navigate the island roads yourself. The route hits five major lookouts: Waimea Canyon (or Pu'uhinahina if the main lookout is closed for maintenance), Hanapepe Valley Gorge, Kalalau Lookout where you can see the Napali Coast from the highest accessible point by vehicle, the Tree Tunnel with its natural canopy of trees on both sides of the road, and Spouting Horn where waves hit the rocks and water shoots out through lava-carved openings. You also stop at Kauai Coffee Company to taste coffee grown on the island. It's the largest coffee operation in Hawaii. There's a suspension bridge with local history attached to it, and a stop at the site where Captain Cook first landed on the islands.
