From there, you move into the roasting process. You get to experience the art of it firsthand—watching and smelling the beans as they transform. By the time you reach the tasting, you understand what you're tasting and why it tastes the way it does.

The tasting happens on the lanai with an ocean view. You choose three coffees from Hala Tree's menu and they're served to you in French presses. This is not a quick sample—you sit with each one, and the guide talks through the flavor notes and what makes each distinct. Groups of four or fewer also receive a complimentary helicopter flight as part of the experience.
