The experience
The guide customizes the route based on what your group wants to see and explore. You're not following a fixed path: the day unfolds around your pace and curiosity. As you move through the snow-covered terrain at the base of the Teton range, the guide watches for animal tracks and signs, stopping to explain what they reveal about the wildlife living here through winter. You'll learn how different species move across snow, what they're hunting or foraging, and how the landscape changes with the season.
All snowshoeing equipment comes with you: snowshoes, gaiters, poles and everything else you need to walk comfortably through backcountry snow. The guide brings professional optics for spotting wildlife and high-quality snacks to eat during stops. Coffee and tea are included, so you can warm up as you take in the views. The group stays small, no more than seven people, which means the guide can focus on your experience and adjust the day to match your interests, whether that's wildlife watching, snow science or the geology of the Tetons themselves.
No previous snowshoeing experience is required. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. The four-hour timeframe gives you a real taste of backcountry travel without consuming your entire day, leaving time to explore other parts of the park or rest before evening.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of wildlife might I see on a winter snowshoe tour in Grand Teton?
Winter wildlife in Grand Teton includes elk, bison, moose, coyotes and wolves, though sightings depend on where the animals are on any given day. The guide watches for tracks and signs of these animals in the snow, interpreting their behavior and movement patterns even when the animals themselves aren't visible. You'll learn to read the landscape through the traces they leave behind.
Do I need to have snowshoed before to join this tour?
No previous experience is necessary. Snowshoeing is accessible to anyone who can walk. The guide will show you how to use the equipment and set a pace that works for your group's fitness level and comfort.
What's included in the tour price?
Snowshoes, gaiters and poles; bottled water; snacks; and coffee or tea are all included. The guide and pickup are also included. The Grand Teton National Park entrance fee ($20 per person, valid for 7 days) is separate. If you already have a park pass, bring it with you.
How does the guide design the tour around our group?
Before you start, the guide learns what your group is most interested in, whether that's wildlife tracking, snow science, geology or simply moving through beautiful backcountry terrain. The route and stops are then shaped around those interests, so no two tours are identical.
What should I wear for a four-hour snowshoe tour in winter?
Dress in layers so you can adjust as you warm up during the walk. Waterproof boots, insulated gloves, a warm hat and a windproof jacket are essential. The guide can offer more specific advice based on current snow and weather conditions when you book.
