Fort Myers fishing charters operate in the back bays and offshore waters of southwest Florida, where you target Snook, Redfish and Trout inshore or Snapper, Grouper and Shark in deeper water. Trips run 4 to 6 hours; the longer the outing, the more fishing grounds you can cover and the better your odds of landing something substantial. A live English-speaking guide, fishing poles, bait and fish cleaning are included.
The Experience
You choose whether to fish the back bays or head offshore, and the 22' Nauticstar with its 150hp Yamaha can handle both. In the bays you're after Snook, Redfish and Trout in shallower water where the work is more technical. Offshore, the target list opens up to Snapper, Grouper, Shark and Mackerel in deeper channels. Captain Mike, a US Coast Guard veteran of 20 years, runs the boat and knows which grounds hold fish depending on the season and the tide.
The longer you stay out, the more water you cover and the more options you have. A 4-hour trip gets you into one or two productive zones; a 6-hour trip lets you move between multiple spots if the first one isn't producing. Fishing poles and bait are provided, and the boat carries everything needed to clean your catch before you head back to the dock. Bottled water is on board.
