Paddle through canyon rapids and float past scenic cliffs on a half-day river run

Half-day rafting on the Deschutes River in Oregon with a professional guide who speaks English, Spanish or Japanese. The trip includes all river and launch fees, runs 3.5 hours, and suits families, couples and groups from age 8 onward. Meet at the operator's facility, which has restrooms and parking for the duration of the trip.

Step-by-step itinerary

Half-day Deschutes River rafting adventure

  • Meet at the designated location
  • Prepare and board the raft
  • Raft along the Deschutes River
  • Enjoy canyon scenery and rapids
  • Return to meeting location

The experience

You meet at the launch site in the morning or afternoon, depending on which departure window you choose (Friday–Sunday or Monday–Thursday). The facility has restrooms and parking for your car while you're on the water, plus a retail shop and snack bar if you want to grab something before or after. Your professional guide handles the technical side. You focus on paddling through the Deschutes' mix of scenic canyon stretches and challenging rapids. The river itself does much of the work. Your job is to follow the guide's cues and keep the paddle moving.

The half-day format means you're on the water for 3.5 hours total, which is long enough to cover real distance and see the canyon walls change without eating your whole day. Warm water temperatures and easy access from the parking area make this trip work for families with kids (age 8 and up), couples, or a crew of friends. If you want a private raft instead of sharing one, you can book for eight people or call the office to arrange it.

Souvenir photos of your trip are available to purchase at the facility afterward. The guide is included. All taxes, river fees and launch fees are built into the price. You'll need a moderate level of fitness to paddle for that stretch of time, and the trip isn't suitable for anyone with spinal injuries. Public transportation options are nearby if you don't have a car.

What’s included

  • Professional guide leading the trip.
  • all taxes, river fees and launch fees.

Is this one for you?Book the Friday–Sunday morning slot if you want an early start and the rest of the day free. The Monday–Thursday option works better if you're traveling midweek and prefer an afternoon on the water. Either way, the half-day length means you're not committing your whole day to the river.
