The experience

You arrive at Ohana Ranch, meet your guide, and get fitted with a helmet and boots. After a safety briefing and a short practice ride on flat ground to get comfortable with the ATV controls, you head out onto beginner-friendly trails that wind through open pastures, native forest, and tropical fruit orchards. The pace is relaxed (this is not a speed course), and your guide leads the way, stopping whenever there's something worth seeing or doing.

At several points along the route, you dismount to pick fresh seasonal fruit growing on the farm (guava, taro, Hawaiian coffee), and your guide explains where each crop comes from and how it fits into the island's agricultural traditions. You'll see farm animals, hear stories about the history of the land and sustainable farming practices in Hawai'i, and get a sense of what life on a working Big Island farm actually looks like. This is not a standard tourist loop. It's a real place where people live and grow food.

The whole experience runs about two hours from arrival to wrap-up. You return to the ranch, take photos if you want them, and head out. Parking is free onsite, and the tour suits all ages and fitness levels, whether you've never ridden an ATV before or you have trail experience, the guide adjusts to where you are.
