The experience
You start at Camel Safari in Bunkerville with the guided tram tour through the zoo grounds. The tram moves slowly past over 30 animals (camels, alpacas, llamas, zebras, a porcupine and a two-toed sloth among them), and you get a close encounter with the camels, including a photo opportunity. This part runs about two hours and sets the pace for what comes next.
After the tram, you move directly into the UTV portion. An experienced guide leads you across Mojave Desert trails on your own vehicle (you choose between a 2-seater or 5-seater UTV at checkout), and the route takes you through winding rural paths, rocky terrain and canyon scenery. The ride lasts roughly one hour and may include a stop at the Virgin River where conditions allow some water play. Helmets, goggles and bottled water are provided. Fuel is included in the price.
The whole outing takes about three hours from start to finish. You'll need to arrange your own transport from Las Vegas to Camel Safari in Bunkerville, so factor in drive time when you book. The experience suits all fitness levels and is wheelchair accessible. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller during the tram portion.
