Escape Room Live Alexandria: 60-Minute Adventures
Work together to crack the case before time runs out
Escape Room Live Alexandria is a 60-minute puzzle game where your team solves clues and completes a mission in one of four themed adventures (Sherlock Holmes, Edgar Allan Poe, A Wizard's Apothecary, or Bomb's Away) guided by a live host in Old Town Alexandria. You choose your game at checkout, and a dedicated guide briefs your team, helps as needed, and debriefs afterward. Games are designed for ages 13 and up, though younger players can join with an adult.
The experience
You arrive 15 minutes early to meet your guide and get briefed on your mission. Then the clock starts. Your team has 60 minutes to find clues hidden in the room, solve puzzles that unlock the next stage, and complete whatever objective the game has set. A guide stays with you the whole time, not to solve it for you, but to nudge you back on track if you get stuck. The games aren't dark or scary. They're built around stories (hunting for a lost manuscript in Poe's chambers, stopping a bomb plot, proving yourself to Sherlock) that make the puzzles feel like part of something bigger than just finding the next code.
You pick your game when you book: Sherlock Holmes: A Matter of Time puts you in his study as junior detectives he wants to test; Poe-ranormal Activity casts you as paranormal investigators searching his old chambers; A Wizard's Apothecary has you helping the King's Royal Wizard; Sherlock: Bomb's Away gives you 60 minutes to stop an attack on major cities. Each one is its own story with its own puzzles, so the experience changes completely depending which one your team chooses. If you don't book all the spots in a game, you might be joined by other players, which can turn the puzzle-solving into a bigger group dynamic.
After the hour is up, you spend 15 minutes debriefing with your guide and taking photos. The whole thing (briefing, game, debrief) runs about 75 minutes from start to finish. An adult 18 or older must be present if anyone in your group is 14 or under, and anyone under 18 needs an adult to sign their waiver. The location is in Old Town Alexandria and is wheelchair accessible. Public transit is nearby if you're not driving.

Top questions
What's the difference between the four games at Escape Room Live Alexandria?
Each game has its own story and puzzle set. Sherlock Holmes: A Matter of Time puts you in his study as junior detectives; Poe-ranormal Activity casts you as paranormal investigators hunting a lost manuscript in Poe's chambers; A Wizard's Apothecary has you helping the King's Royal Wizard; Sherlock: Bomb's Away gives you 60 minutes to stop an attack on major cities. You choose which one when you book.
Do I need to be a certain age to play?
Games are recommended for ages 13 and up. Younger players can participate, but some puzzle content may be too difficult for them. Anyone 14 or under must have an adult 18 or older in the room with them, and anyone under 18 needs an adult to sign their waiver.
Will my team be alone in the room, or could other people join us?
If you book all the spots in a game, your team plays alone. If you don't book every spot, other players may be added to your game, so you'll be solving puzzles together as a larger group.
How much time should I plan for the whole experience?
Plan for about 75 minutes total. You arrive 15 minutes early for a briefing, play for 60 minutes, then spend 15 minutes debriefing and taking photos after the game ends.
Is there a guide in the room with us?
Yes, a dedicated live guide stays with your team throughout the game. They brief you on the mission before you start, help nudge you back on track if you get stuck, and debrief with you afterward. The games are designed so your team does the solving. The guide is there to support, not to solve it for you.
