The second is Bodega El Legado, a boutique operation where you tour the cellar, taste a wine straight from the barrel, and eat a grilled lunch with the winery's best wines. Private transport is included. The tour runs 5 to 6 hours. Minimum age is 18. Guides speak English, Spanish or Portuguese.

The experience

Bodega Cordano sits at the heart of Carmelo's wine region, opened a century ago by Piemontese immigrants and now run by Ana María Cordano, the founder's daughter, and her family. You walk through the family museum in the cellar, taste four of their wines with a spread of cheeses, cold cuts, nuts, breads and local delicacies, and have time to buy regional products from their warehouse before moving on.

Bodega El Legado is the second stop: a smaller, owner-run boutique winery where the proprietors themselves guide you through the operation and its history. You taste one of their premium wines directly from the barrel, a detail most visitors never get to do, then sit down to a grilled lunch paired with the winery's best selections. The whole day runs between five and six hours with private transport included, so there is no waiting for a shared vehicle or coordinating pickups with other groups.
