Scuba Diving in Fujairah: PADI Discovery with Instructor

The PADI Discovery Scuba Diving Program in Fujairah teaches you to dive safely to 12 meters with a PADI instructor guiding you through confined water training first, then a supervised open water dive. You get all scuba and snorkeling equipment, unlimited soft drinks and underwater photos. The program takes about two hours and suits anyone in reasonable health who wants to try diving without committing to a full certification course.

The experience

You start in confined water where your PADI instructor walks you through every skill you need in a controlled setting: how to breathe underwater, how to clear your mask, how to move without panic. The point is comfort: you stay until you're ready, not until the clock says so. Once you know what your body does down there, the instructor takes you to open water and you apply those same skills in a real dive, watching schools of exotic fish and brightly colored corals while you move through the weightlessness yourself.

The whole program runs about two hours. You're in the water for both the training and the dive, so bring a towel and plan to be wet afterward. All scuba gear (tank, regulator, wetsuit, weights, belt) is provided, along with snorkeling equipment if you want to surface and look around without the full rig. You also get unlimited soft drinks and water, and the instructor photographs you underwater so you have proof of what you saw down there.

This is not a certification course, so you don't get a card to dive on your own later. It's the way to find out if you like it before you commit to three days of classroom and pool work. The depth limit is 12 meters: deep enough to see real reef structure and fish behavior, shallow enough that the physics stays simple and your air lasts longer.

What's the difference between this Discovery Scuba program and getting a full PADI certification?

The Discovery Scuba Diving Program teaches you the basics and takes you on one supervised open water dive, all in about two hours. A full PADI certification involves classroom study, confined water training, and multiple open water dives over several days, and you earn a card that lets you dive independently afterward. This program is the introduction. Certification is the credential.

Do I need any diving experience to sign up for this?

No. The PADI Discovery Scuba program is designed for people trying diving for the first time. Your instructor teaches you everything in the confined water first, so you build confidence before you go to the reef. You do need to be in reasonable health. The program is not recommended for people with spinal injuries, cardiovascular issues, or pregnancy.

What happens if I get nervous underwater during the training?

Your PADI instructor stays with you the whole time and works at your pace. The confined water training exists so you can practice skills and get comfortable in a controlled space before you ever see the open reef. If you need to surface or take a break, you do. The instructor's job is to keep you safe and ready, not to push you through.

Are the underwater photos included, or do I pay extra?

Underwater pictures are included in the program. The instructor photographs you during the dive so you have images of what you saw and did down there.

What should I bring and what's provided?

Bring a towel, swimwear, and any prescription glasses if you wear them (the instructor can fit a corrective lens into your mask). The program provides all scuba equipment (tank, regulator, wetsuit, weights and belt) plus snorkeling gear, unlimited soft drinks and water. You don't need to own or rent anything separately.
