Yeah — you're driving out of the city entirely, heading toward Oman's border, and the landscape changes completely. The highway cuts through dry, sharp-turned mountain passes with those strange rock formations the guide points out. It's not what you expect when you think of the Emirates, and that's exactly why it works.

The village itself is a reconstruction of how people actually lived up here centuries ago — stone houses with palm-frond roofs, a defensive tower, and the falaj, which is the traditional water system that kept everything running. You walk through it at your own pace, seeing old weapons, furniture, crockery. It's quiet. There's a viewing tower at Hatta Hill Park where you can see the whole valley, and then you move down to the dam. The water there is this striking green color — almost unreal against the brown mountains. That's where the kayaking happens.
