The experience
The tour leaves from your Abu Dhabi hotel and heads into Dubai, starting at Dubai Marina Walk, where you stroll past luxury yachts and high-rise buildings along the waterfront. From there you move to Palm Jumeirah for a photo stop at the man-made island shaped like a palm tree, then to the Burj Al Arab for shots of its sail-shaped silhouette on the private beach. The Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain come next (you'll see the choreographed water displays at the base of the world's tallest building) followed by time at Dubai Mall, which sits at the foot of the Burj Khalifa and holds shops, restaurants and views of the fountain.
The route also includes Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, Dubai's oldest district, where narrow lanes and wind-tower houses show what the city looked like before the modern towers went up. A live English or Hindi-speaking guide walks you through the stops and explains what you're seeing. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and bottled water is provided throughout the day. Travel time between sites takes about three hours of the eight-hour total, so you're moving between locations as much as you're standing still at each one.
Lunch is not part of the booking, so you'll either eat before the tour starts or grab something during a stop: Dubai Mall has plenty of restaurants if you want to eat there. The tour runs in a shared group format, and guided services are provided when the group reaches 10 participants.
