The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel or home. Your guide drives you to the desert in a shared vehicle, then hands you the controls of a 2-seater dune buggy for a 30-minute ride across the open high red dunes. This is where you steer, accelerate and feel the terrain shift beneath you. After you finish, the guide deflates the SUV's tire pressure and takes you deeper into the desert on a high-sand-dune drive, stopping for 10 minutes on the dunes so you can photograph the sunset view before heading to camp.

The 5-star desert camp is where the rest of the evening unfolds. Your guide shows you to your table and explains how the camp works. A short camel ride is available free of charge. Dinner is a BBQ buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, served while Tanoura dance, belly dance and fire shows play in front of you. Unlimited tea, coffee, water and soft drinks are included throughout. Fresh fruits, juices and snacks are also provided. Adults can add sheesha smoking on the spot. Once dinner and the shows wrap up, your guide drives you back to your pickup location.

Two people share each buggy, so you'll ride with one other guest unless you arrange a private vehicle separately. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy. Infants must sit on an adult's lap. Children under 16 need an adult companion who is 16 or older.
