The experience

Hotel pickup takes you 40–45 minutes into the desert, where you meet the other vehicles at the gathering point. From there the dune bashing starts: a 20–25 minute roller-coaster ride over the dunes that ends at a high dune for photos. Your guide helps with shots or you can try sand-boarding if you want. The whole stop runs about 20 minutes before the convoy heads to the desert camp.

At the camp you're welcomed with Arabic sweets and tea. Camel riding happens here, along with henna painting if you want it: the guide walks you through the options when you arrive. After sunset, the BBQ buffet opens with vegetarian and meat options, unlimited soft drinks and water included. The live shows run during dinner: Tanoura (a spinning skirt performance), belly dance, and fire show, though these change with the season and don't run during Ramadan. The return drive to your hotel takes the evening out to a full 6 hours.

The tour runs as a shared safari, so you'll be in a vehicle with other guests and share the camp experience with them. If you want to add on a quad bike for self-drive dune bashing, professional photography, longer camel riding, or fresh juices, you can arrange those at checkout. Alcoholic drinks are available to buy separately.
