The experience

The day starts with the adrenaline part: you climb into a Land Cruiser and the driver takes you across the sand dunes at speed, dropping and climbing the slopes while the desert opens around you. Once the bashing settles, you move to the Royal Adventure Camp, where you're welcomed with Arabic coffee and dates. From there the evening unfolds in stages. Henna artists paint your hands and feet while you watch the light change, you can ride a camel or try sandboarding across the dunes, and the live shows start as the sun drops: belly dance and Tanoura dancers perform while you eat.

The food runs through the night. You get a shewarma and falafel starter, then a BBQ buffet with vegetarian and meat options, soft drinks, Arabic coffee and tea. Sheesha (water pipe) is available to try while you watch the performers. You can dress in traditional Arabic clothes for photos, and the camp provides the setup. This is the souvenir moment most people come for. A maximum of twelve people per booking keeps the camp from feeling crowded, and the guide handles the timing so nothing runs into the next thing.
