The experience
The tour leaves Fujairah with private transport and a guide who joins once you reach Dubai. The first stop is Al Seef, a restored waterfront district along Dubai Creek where narrow alleyways, cafés and shops blend traditional Emirati design with contemporary shops and restaurants. From there you cross the creek by abra, a traditional wooden ferry, to reach Bur Dubai Village on the opposite bank, a short passage that frames both the historic and modern sides of the city at once.
The Gold Souk comes next, a sprawling market of over 300 shops in the Deira district where gold jewelry, diamonds and precious stones fill narrow lanes. The sheer volume of pieces on display (ranging from 22-karat and 24-karat gold to custom-made and antique items) makes it one of the world's most famous trading hubs for gold. After the souk, the route passes the Burj Al-Arab, the sail-shaped hotel standing on an artificial island 280 meters from Jumeirah Beach, then continues to Dubai Marina with its waterfront mix of skyscrapers, residences and dining.
The Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building at 828 meters, anchors the afternoon portion of the day. From there the tour reaches Atlantis The Palm on the artificial Palm Jumeirah island, a resort designed around the mythical lost city of Atlantis. The Dubai Mall, located next to the Burj Khalifa, is also part of the route. The full day runs ten to eleven hours including the four-hour drive each way from Fujairah.
