The experience
The day starts with a 45-minute 4WD pickup from your Dubai or Sharjah hotel, then a 10-minute drive into Lahbab Red Dunes, a less-crowded section of the desert. Once there, you spend 20 to 30 minutes dune bashing in a Land Cruiser. The driver handles the big moves while you feel the controlled rush over high red sand. Next comes sandboarding for 20 minutes on soft dunes, followed by a dedicated sunset photo stop where the light turns the sand golden.
After the dunes, a 30 to 40-minute transfer takes you to the desert camp. A short camel ride waits outside the camp entrance, then you move into the main area for Arabic coffee, dates, henna painting and time in traditional dress for photos. Dinner is a live-cooking BBQ buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, unlimited soft drinks, tea and Arabic coffee, served over an hour. The entertainment runs 50 minutes: belly dance in three styles, two to three fire shows, Tanoura dance, Arabic and Bedouin dances, and a drum finale.
The return drive to your hotel takes 45 minutes. The whole experience runs about six and a half hours from pickup to drop-off.
